Latest Dave Matthews Band News - September 22nd

Dave Matthews Band is creating quite a bit of political buzz.  Well not really, but reports are circling the internet that Dave Matthews Band is going to play at John Edwards, the former vice-presidential candidates wedding ceremony.  Read about it nytimes.com.  Fortunately I have not seen an article yet from the Dave Matthews Band confirming this.  The Dave Matthews Band has supported some political candidates in the past but that doesn't mean that Dave Matthews Band will add wedding singers to their repertoire.  Even Us Magazine is mentions Dave Matthews Band playing at a rooftop ceremony in New York for Edwards and his mistress.  (Click here to read the article at usmagazine.com). 

Dave Matthews recently spoke to Spinner about LeRoi Moore and his daughters wanting their names in a song.  Read the whole article at spinner.com.  It is apparent that Moore's death affected the band and Dave Matthews.  However, it appears that Dave Matthews has grown from the unfortunate experience.  Especially when Dave stated, "I've caught myself at times being a little honest and cold-hearted, like he sometimes wished I would be when he was alive," there is realization that despite being a successful musician and father there is always room for honesty. 

In other LeRoi Moore news azcentral.com is reporting that the LeRoi Moore Fund will continue to provide scholarships to schools in Virginia and North Carolina.  (Click here to read the article)  The LeRoi Moore Fund also contributes to Habit for Humanity and Toys for Tots among other notable charities.  Despite the estate planning years ago there was no specific agreement on the allocation of his estate, however, the scholarships were Moore's idea states Rit Venerus, trustee to Moore's estate.  Even in death we can still see the influence Moore has and will have on many lives, including Dave Matthews himself.

Latest Dave Matthews Band News - September 11th

Dave Matthews Band will be performing on the Ellen show the 15th of September.  Read about it at ellen.warnerbros.com.  If you plan on going there will be some tickets available the day of the concert and it sounds like parking is at the LA Zoo according to antsmarching.org. 

Recently the Dave Matthews Band played at the Outside Lands Festival and to honor the memory of the late LeRoi Moore the band played a cover of Sly & the Family Stone's "Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)".  Which was the last song the Dave Matthews Band played with Moore.  Read about at latimes.com.  The Black Eyed Peas were moved by "Jimi Thing" so much that they joined the Dave Matthews Band onstage to dance.  That must have been an interesting surprise.  Click here to see a great photo from of the DMB on day two at the Outside Lands Festival. 

The Dave Matthews Band were also joined by Robert Randolph at the Outside Lands Festival for a couple of songs.  (click here to read about it)  The article also mentions that Dave Matthews Band will be headlining Austin City Limits in October.  I can't wait to hear about who joins DMB in Austin.

Can't afford to fly or drive to San Francisco for the Outside Lands Festival to see the Dave Matthews Band?  Then check out youtube.com/outsidelands for a live web stream of the show tonight!  According to the examiner.com this is the first live web stream of a major event on youtube.com.  I hope that this will not be the last time that youtube.com hosts a live web stream of a concert.  You can bet that many Dave Matthews fans will be tuning in online to catch the festival webcast.

The Dave Matthews Band is offering free music downloads for anyone pledging to eco-conscious.  Read the article by clicking here.  It is being dubbed the So Much to Save campaign and fans can simply pledge to start a recycling program at work and even recycle an old cell phone.  If more artists were like the Dave Matthews Band and started similar campaigns, recycling would be the new black, oh wait recycling is the green!

Austin City Limits festival is right around the corner and the Dave Matthews Band is finally making an appearance there.  According to the examiner.com Dave Matthews Band is the #3 most anticipated show that this year's festival.  Read about it at the examiner.com.  Dubbed this generations Greatful Dead by the author, it is no surprise that the Dave Matthews Band is considered a lasting rock act considering they have had sixteen top 50 singles and quite a few platinum albums.  ACL be ready to be rocked!

Latest Dave Matthews Band News - August 7th

This weekend the Dave Matthews Band will heading to the bands' home state of Virginia for two shows to help fans get through the "Cruel Summer" as Nancy Dunham of washingtonexaminer.com states.  (Click here to read the article)  Nancy mentions a recent interview in which Dave speaks of music as therapy.  As I am sure many readers can attest to, music is therapy that awakens the soul.

Traffic was stopped before Wednesday's show in NY but the end was all worth it for 17,000 fans, Dave Matthews Band at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts.  There were live Tweets giving fans access to real-time updates on Traffic and the show.  Read the article at The Times-Herald Record.   In a more recent article at The Times-Herald Record there is talk of Dave inviting the crowd to skinny dip with him after the show.  I'd have to say I wouldn't be surprised if he actually did.  The world may never know the Tweets stop at 7:49.  Read about it here.

In other news the ABS field in Syracuse, NY survived according to syracuse.com.  Read the article here.  I am sure 18,000 fans would damage some of the grass but it sounds like the most intense areas were where the crew and technicians were.  That really goes to show you that there is a lot of human power behind the scenes making your experience amazing.

Latest Dave Matthews Band News - August 4th

Been many, many months since this I blogged last but will get you up to speed on the Dave Matthews Band.  First, I was surprised to see that a newspaper in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates had posted an online review of "Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King", check out the review here. The author only gives the album 3 out of 5 stars but does give the late LeRoi Moore credit for being a first-rate sax player and essentially states the album is for fans of Dave Matthews Band. 

The next item is a little more positive and gives great credit to LeRoi Moore, stating that his saxophone playing is what holds the album together.  Furthermore, the article discusses the orgination of the album title as LeRoi's nickname, GrooGrux.  Please check out the article for yourself.  

Here is an example of a responsible young Dave Matthews Fan who was awoken by a state trooper in his vehicle after the Dave Matthews Band played at Alpine Valley in Wisconsin.  Read the story for yourself here  The teen slept in his car after the show because he knew he was drunk and should not drive back home.  I'd have to say I am impressed that the court commended his responsibility even though he was underage.
